The Overall Halogen Framework
The overall framework of the Halogen user interface contains the following main areas:
- Application Toolbar - for managing global tasks such as discovering, connecting to, and applying configurations to HAL devices. The toolbar also includes options for managing and configuring the software application itself.
- Workspace Tabs - for selecting the current workspace to display.
- Workspace (Hardware and Processing) - for designing your system. The Hardware Workspace is for specifying, configuring, and troubleshooting the physical hardware components of your audio system. The Processing Workspace is for wiring together the audio processing components of your system, adding and configuring processing blocks such as equalizers, matrix mixers, compressors, limiters, and so on. From this Workspace, you also manage and configure control links, presets, paging, and room combine layouts. Each Workspace contains the following common elements:
- Palette(s) - for choosing the items you need in your system (hardware components, I/O processing blocks, DSP Processing blocks, and hardware controls).
- Workspace Toolbar - for performing additional operations related to the currently displayed workspace.
- Map - the canvas on which you actually drag and drop components and design and configure your system.
- Map Display Controls - for controlling how the contents of the Map are displayed.
