Link Events

Each event has three to four controls (depending on event type) that can be linked with other parts of the Halogen configuration. The event controls available for linking are Value/Status, Active Trigger, Inactive Trigger, and Enable. Each of these control types will be covered below.

Formation of new links is done the same in all other parts of the Halogen software. See About Control Links for additional details on forming links.

Value/Status control:

Displays the current event state: active or inactive.

The type of the Value/Status field changes depending on the chosen type for the Event: Toggle, Command, or Selector. As with linking in all parts of the Halogen like types are linkable, so when the event is of type Toggle the value read-only value control can only be linked with other non-read-only linkable toggles. The same is true when the event is of type command and selector.

Link to Value/Status to display the current event state on web pages, DR remotes, or to drive audio flow conditions such as recalling a preset from the event’s state – meaning a time-based preset recall.

Active Trigger control:

The Active Trigger button allows manual activation of an event outside the influence of the event’s recurrence and date/time settings. Click it to activate the event.

Link to this button if you want a second, manual method to activate an event which allows starting an event earlier. Use of the Active Trigger is also useful when checking your Halogen design settings, links and behaviors.

Inactive Trigger control:

The Inactive Trigger button allows manual deactivation of an event outside the influence of the event’s recurrence and date/time settings. Click it to deactivate the event.

Link to this button if you want a second, manual method to deactivate an event which allows ending an event earlier. Use of the Inactive Trigger is also useful when checking your Halogen design settings, links and behaviors.

Enable control:

When the Enable checkbox is checked, the event is permitted to trigger (either active or inactive) once the time matches the recurrence and start/stop date & time settings of the event. When unchecked, the event is disabled and cannot trigger; either from the system clock, or from the active or inactive trigger commands.

Link to the enable check box to enable or disable events using other controls such as 3rd-party controls, web pages, DR remotes or physical switches.
