Create Events

Events offer a way to take actions in a HAL System using a time of day clock. Before creating events in Halogen, we strongly recommend that you review About Events, which provides the background you need to most effectively work with events in the HAL System.

To create a new event:

  1. Click the Processing tab to open the Processing Workspace.
  2. On the Processing Workspace toolbar, click Events to open the Event Manager dialog box.
  3. In the lower right corner of the dialog box, click the button to add a new event to the list of events.
  4. Customize the event name

This step is optional but recommended. Naming events as you create them helps tremendously when working with multiple events. To edit the name, click the text symbol next to your new listed event, and then type the name you want in the edit box that appears. Press the Enter key or click the X on the text edit box to close the box and save the name. To cancel, press the Esc key.

  5. To edit the new event, click the underlined event name to open the event dialog box.

To duplicate an existing event:

Sometimes it is desirable to create a set of events with a similar recurrence patterns and settings. In this case the first event can be created and then, rather than repeating the event creation steps for each additional event, use the Duplicate button to create exact copies of the first event.

  1. Click the Processing tab to open the Processing Workspace.
  2. On the Processing Workspace toolbar, click Events to open the Event Manager dialog box.
  3. Click in the row of the event you want to duplicate to highlight it.
  4. Click the button to create an exact copy of the selected event.
