Using Meters to Troubleshoot

Meters can be useful when troubleshooting your audio, specifically the Meter Peak Hold Time value. The default value for Meter Peak Hold Time is typically sufficient, but when troubleshooting, it may be useful to extend the hold time. For example, suppose there is an audio signal somewhere in the system's signal path that's too loud for a subsequent audio device. Lengthening the peak hold time to infinite (always keeping the highest peak value displayed) helps you find the overload point(s) in the audio signal chain, as it reveals the highest peak value for every metered channel displayed.
