Testing Your Paging Configuration

As with much of the HAL System's functionality, you can test your configured paging system before you install hardware. Of course, once the hardware is installed, you should test that it works as expected. But testing your paging configuration as soon as you create it allows you to work out any potential problems with your Scenario definitions and priorities, Paging Station configurations, paging conflicts, and so on.

After completing the configuration of your HAL paging system, complete the following test procedure to confirm that the configuration is correct.

To test your paging system configuration:

1. In the Processing Workspace toolbar, click Paging Manager.
2. In the Stations section of the Paging Manager, click each Paging Station name to open the station's properties. In the properties dialog box, notice the area on the far left that lists the Paging Scenarios available to the Paging Station. Also notice the status indicators and Talk button below the Scenarios. These items simulate the behavior of the physical paging station and are the items you'll use to test your paging configuration.
3. Working with the different paging stations and available Scenarios, test what happens when a single paging station pages into one of its Scenarios. To simulate a page, select a Scenario on the paging station's list and then select its Talk button. Test all possible combinations (all Scenarios on all paging stations) and confirm that the status indicators work correctly. Also, if applicable in your configuration, confirm that the Scenario priorities are configured and working correctly. For example, make sure that a page into a higher priority Scenario can override a page into a lower priority Scenario containing one or more of the same zones.
