Naming/Renaming a Channel or Device

You can customize the names of all HAL channels and devices: analog input and output channels, RAD devices and channels, DR devices, Logic In ports, Relay Out ports, and EXP devices.

To name or rename a device or device channel:

  1. Click the Hardware tab to open the Hardware Workspace.

  2. In the workspace, locate the device name or channel name you want to edit.
  3. Hover your cursor directly over the name until a text symbol appears:
  4. Click to display an edit box:
  5. Type the name you want, and then press Enter to save the name. To cancel, click the X on the right side of the edit box.

note: You can also edit RAD names, RAD channel names, and Expansion Unit names from within their respective Properties dialog boxes.

note: When entering names and other text, such as labels and notes, you can use nearly any Latin character and many symbols. For more details, see Allowed Display Characters.
