Creating a Command External Control

A Command external control can link to one or more Command controls in your HAL configuration. This control allows your external control system to perform a one-time action in the HAL system each time the command is triggered. The most common action is to trigger a Command Preset.

To create a Command external control:

1. Click the Processing tab to open the Processing Workspace.

2. Create your Processing Map, configuring the system as you want it to behave when this command is triggered. Identify the other command controls that you want to link with your new external control system Command control.

3. On the Processing Workspace toolbar, click Control Systems then External Controls to open the External Control Systems dialog box.

4. Click the Command tab.

5. In the lower right corner of the dialog box, click the button to add a new Command control the list.

6. Customize the control name

   This step is optional but recommended. Naming external controls as you create them helps tremendously when working with multiple controls. To edit the name, click the text symbol next to your new listed control, and then type the name you want in the edit box that appears. Press the Enter key or click the X on the text edit box to close the box and save the name. To cancel, press the Esc key.

7. If desired, change the Number for the control

   This step is optional. The Halogen software selects a unique number for a control when you create it in the Control Systems dialog. You only need to change this number if your external control system requires a number different than what Halogen selected or if you just want to create your own set of numbers. Remember though, the number must be unique among all controls in the Control Systems dialog – Halogen won’t let you set the same number for two controls even if they are different types.
