Updating the Baseline Preset

Picture this: You've spent a good amount of time creating the perfect default system and have saved it to your Baseline preset. Time has passed, you've moved on and created several more presets, and now you discover that you set one of the parameters incorrectly in the Baseline. You fix the parameter, click Save Baseline, and continue with your work. More time passes, you're doing some system testing, and you assert the Baseline - only to find out that it doesn't return the default system that you worked so hard to configure. What happened? The problem occurred when you clicked Save Baseline. Not only did you save the changed block parameter, you saved the current parameter values in all of your blocks—not at all what you intended. The procedure you should have followed is described below:

To update a block in the Baseline preset:

  1. In your Processing Map (in the Processing Workspace), locate the block(s) you want to update in the Baseline.
  2. Set the parameter values in one or more of the blocks to match what you want in your Baseline.
  3. In the Processing Workspace toolbar, click Presets to open the All Presets dialog box.

  4. Click the Command tab.
  5. Click the Baseline preset to open its properties dialog box.
  6. Find the block(s) you want to update and then click the associated Update button (to the right of the block name).

Alternate method for updating a block in the Baseline preset:

  1. In your Processing Map (in the Processing Workspace), locate the block(s) you want to configure.
  2. Set the parameter values in one or more of the blocks to match what you want in your Baseline.
  3. Right-click the block, and, in the context menu that displays, click Save Block(s) to Baseline.

tip: If you want to save multiple blocks to the Baseline at once, highlight all the blocks (either by dragging the mouse over all of them or by pressing and holding the Shift key while you click each block you want). Once they are all selected, right-click on any of them and click Save Block(s) to Baseline.
