Adding/Removing Block Nodes

Halogen processing blocks contain a useful feature that allow you to add new nodes on the fly. To illustrate the usefulness of this feature, let's take a look at the Mixer block.

With most audio products, you must specify the size of your mixer when you create it. But what if something in your design specification changes and you need to add one or more channels to the mixer? If the mixer size is fixed, you're stuck creating a new one from scratch. What a bother! In the HAL System, however, you simply add the channels you need. No bother at all!

To add a node to a block:

  1. Click the Processing tab to open the Processing Workspace.
  2. In the workspace, click the block to which you plan to add a node.
  3. In the bottom left corner of the block, click Add, as shown in this thumbnail: A new node appears. If you are in the process of wiring two blocks together and realize you need an additional node on the target block, you can simply drop your wire on the target block's Add area: The node is added and wired simultaneously!

note: You can add up to 80 input nodes and 48 output nodes, although maximizing both is not advisable as it would put a tremendous strain on HAL's DSP resources.
