Design the Control System
The first step in creating a set of HAL control pages is to carefully think about the design of the control system. Ask yourself some questions like:
- What will the end-users control with the control system, who will use the controls, and where will they be located?
- Should I use DR6 devices, web controls or a combination of both?
- If using web control pages, what types of devices will the end user be using when operating them? For example, web browser on a laptop, tablet, or smartphone? The expected devices will affect the content and layout of your control pages.
- How will control pages relate to other controls in the system, such as DR1, DR2, and DR3 or external control systems?
The end result of this process is an overall design of the control system, including the control pages you’ll need and what controls will be on them. In addition you can decide how to assign the various pages to each device in the system (web or DR6) and how to configure user access so each user gets the set of pages they will interact with.
