Link NameA customizable name identifying a particular control link.
Control Link Activation StateA user-configurable state that dictates the enabled state of a link. When a link is not Active, it is disabled.
Control Link ValueThe value maintained by a control link and shared by all participants in the link. For example, a Level link maintains a Level value, a Selector link maintains a specific selection, and a Toggle link maintains the toggle state (on or off). A Command link has no value.‡
ParticipantsThe set of controls participating in a control link. A single control can participate in multiple links but can only be active in one link at a time (determined by link priority).
Link MasterThe control link participant that dictates the values of the other link participants when the link becomes active. Pertains to Level, Toggle, and Selector control links only. Command control links do not have a Link Master.‡
Control Link PriorityDetermines what to do when a control is a participant in more than one active control link. The control is only active in the highest priority active link.*
‡Command Links maintain no value, therefore, Command Links do not contain a Control Link Value or a Link Master.
*You configure Control Link Priority in the All Links dialog box, not in the link's properties dialog box.
Toggle Link: Toggle Value checkbox, Inverted state
Command Link: Issue Command button
To configure a control link's properties:
Click the Processing tab to open the Processing Workspace.
In the Processing toolbar, click Linking. The All Links dialog box displays, which lists all current control links (by type).
In the All Links dialog box, click the appropriate tab. For example, if you're looking for a Level control link, click the Level tab.
note: If you want to configure a link's priority, you must do so in the All Links dialog box, not in the link's properties dialog box.
Click the link whose properties you want to configure. The link's properties dialog box displays:
Configure the link's properties.
Click the X in the upper right corner to close the dialog box.
Alternate method:
Click the link icon associated with one of the link participants. For example, if the control link in question is between a DR1 and a Level processing block, you could click either the link icon next to the DR1 Level control in the Control palette or the link icon next to the Level control in the Processing Map:
One of two things happens:
If the participant belongs to only one link, the properties of that link displays:
If the participant belongs to more than one link, a dialog box opens displaying all the links to which the participant belongs: Find the link you want and click it to open its properties.
Configure the link's properties.
Click the X in the upper right corner to close the dialog box.
