We begin with a brief review of the most basic conference application, communication between two rooms. We discuss half-duplex communication where audio only travels in one direction at a time and duplex communication, where audio travels in both directions at the same time. A need for Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) when using duplex communication is explained, followed by a brief explanation of how AEC works. After a review of these basics, we present a number of basic Halogen conference configurations that demonstrate the use of available Halogen conferencing blocks to solve common conferencing needs.
